ALE 802 Resources

The 802 power supply features a common interface with the 402 and XR802, via a 25pin D-type female connector located on the rear panel of the unit. The table below shows details of the function and the pin-out for the connector.

3	INHIBIT LED	OUTPUT	Open collector output. Indicates the PS is receiving an inhibit input
5	EOC LED	OUTPUT	Open collector output. Indicates the PS has reached end of charge
7	INHIBIT	INPUT	5 to 15V inhibits unit operation, Open or Gnd allows operation. Use this signal to disable charging during HV switch recovery
8	ENABLE/RESET	INPUT	15V = High Voltage On, Gnd or open = High Voltage Off
9	VPEAK	OUTPUT	0-10V Peak detector of output waveform
10	HV ON LED	OUTPUT	Open collector output. Indicates the HV is ON
12	GND		Control circuit return. Also chassis ground
13	IANALOG	OUTPUT	Analog of output waveform (+/-1%)
14	+15V	OUTPUT	15V through 100ohm series resistor
16	OVERTEMP LED	OUTPUT	Open collector output. Indicates Overtemp fault
17	INTERLOCK LED	OUTPUT	Open collector output. Indicates the interlock is open
18	LOAD FAULT LED	OUTPUT	Open collector output. Indicates output overload, over-voltage, or open circuit condition
19	SUMMARY FAULT LED	OUTPUT	Open collector output. Indicates summary fault
20	INHIBIT	INPUT	0V inhibits unit, 15V or open allows operation
22	V PROGRAM	INPUT	0-10V signal = 0 to 100% of rated voltage
23	HV OFF LED	OUTPUT	Open collector output. Indicates the HV is OFF
24	GND		Control circuit return. Also chassis ground
25	+12V LED	OUTPUT	12V at 100mA max for powering status LEDs

HV Output

The HV output connector on all oil insulated units is a proprietary ALE design. A standard 10ft high voltage cable is supplied which is terminated at the power supply end only. If the supply is operated at voltages above 20kV and 200Hz rep rate it is recommended that a silicone grease such as Dow Corning DC-4 is applied to the cable termination before insertion in the supply. Greasing should be repeated to ensure as much air as possible is displaced from the connector.

Panel Configurations

The 802 power supply is available with 3 panel configurations the L, S, and OEM. The L or Lab version features a fully instrumented front panel with the following functions;

10 turn output voltage control potentiometer (L only)
Digital average voltage and current meters (L only)
Digital average voltage and current bars (L only)
Local/Remote/Off removable keyswitch (L only)
Power On/Off switch (L/S only)
View set switch (L only)
HV On/HV Off switches (L only)
HV ON, HV OFF, INHIBIT, END OF CHARGE, INTERLOCK OPEN, LOAD FAULT, OVERTEMP indicator LEDs (L/S only)
